Construction
began in 1999 on the site of a former dry cleaning
plant and used car lot, each with its own tanks of
toxic waste. So much land had to be removed that we
ended up with considerably more basement space than
we had planned.
Residents received a tour on 19 June
2000.

Betsy and Eric holding up the newly printed construction banner. The view is from the South Alley, the Metro wall in the background, the back corner of the Takoma Theatre on the left.

Contractor's sign on Blair Road, top corner of the Takoma Theatre on the right.

A beautiful red fork lift used to move construction materials, in the mud. It rained and rained, at one point stopping construction because the basement was full of water.
